Position Highlights:

The Artist In Residence (Musician) in the Arts In Medicine Program provides a healing environment throughout the Cancer Center for patients, families, visitors and staff through the use of music; provides and facilitates music in public areas of the Cancer Center; has direct patient/visitor contact at the bedside and in clinics and waiting areas with music program; oversees volunteers and practicum students; provides special performances; participates in and supports diverse Arts In Medicine programs and events; consistently serves as a resource for promotion of the Arts In Medicine program and for the creation of an aesthetic and artistic environment for patients, families, visitors and staff throughout the Cancer Center.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Expert knowledge of/training in music
• Professional Training Certificate in healing music or equivalent
• Demonstrates knowledge in music as an intervention within the healthcare setting
• Demonstrates comfort in one-on-one group interactions with patients, families, visitors and staff

Responsibilities:

• As a healing musician, sensitively serves patients and caregivers by assessing their emotional and physical state and offering appropriate music interventions.
• Provides music experiences at the bedside and in out-patient areas for patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Responds to referrals in a timely manner, setting appropriate priorities regarding referrals for music intervention at the bedside or in clinics.
• Participates in Moffitt events and celebrations and in Arts In Medicine programs as requested.

Credentials and Qualifications:

• Expert knowledge of/training in music
• Professional Training Certificate in healing music or equivalent
• Demonstrates knowledge in music as an intervention within the healthcare setting
• Experience in a healing arts program preferred
