Summary
Position Highlights:
Evaluates, plans, and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principle and practices of occupational therapy. Provides care for inpatient oncology caseload.
Collaborates with an interdisciplinary treatment team regarding the needs of the patient. Position includes opportunities to contribute to presentations, publications, supervision of students/interns, and execution of departmental education efforts, etc. which will contribute to advancement in a clinical ladder.
The Ideal Candidate
- The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Master’s in Occupational Therapy
- FL OT License
- One or more years of Clinical experience in an acute care hospital
Responsibilities:
- Complete evaluation and treatments of patients according to the physical therapy practice act.
- Monitors and respond to the patient's response to treatment and adjusts accordingly, reassessing the patient as needed or at least every 2 weeks, and discharging the patient in a timely manner dependent on the needs of the patient.
- Collaborates and communicates with the interdisciplinary team members regarding patient status and discharge planning.
- Documents evaluations and daily treatment sessions accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record immediately upon completion of session .
- Accurately completes charge sheets billing within Medicare guidelines and performs live documentation for all patients with no more than 2 billing errors per month.
- Assist with supervision of high school interns, observation students, and Rehab Aides. May assist with occupational therapy students.
- Adheres to departmental productivity standards and uses time efficiently.
- Demonstrates initiative by performing tasks that may not be directly assigned.
- Attends departmental meetings and in-services.
- Maintains required continuing education credits, BLS certification, and state licensure.
- Covers occasional weekends and holidays if staffing needs warrant.
- Participates in education in-services, presentations, etc. as needed.
- Opportunity to participate in Clinical Ladder advancement.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Occupational Therapy
- OT
- Florida OT License, Temporary license accepted. Must pass licensing exam within 90 days of hire to continue employment.
- BLS Certification
- 1 year Clinical experience is preferred (Clinical experience in an acute hospital during OT school will be accepted)
